As I sit here on Christmas Eve, I can only look back on 2008 with extreme pride, Talisman the Band (Crys, Steve, Jim and I) released "The Wicked World's Come of Age". A collection of songs
that represent just about every emotion; Love, Hate, Pain, Anguish, Desire, and Loss.
I believe we captured these emotions quite well in how we painstakingly recorded and mixed
the album with the help of Pete Davis at Signal Sound. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that the album far exceeded all of our expectations.
On Aug 31st, 2008 we performed our first gig in 14 years at John and Peter's in New Hope to
a packed house. It was absolutely thrilling; we performed almost flawlessly (at least Crys, Steve, and Jim did) and the energy in the crowd was electric.
Our goal in 2009 is to get our music out to as many people as possible, and to continually improve our playing as a band, as we feel that we are not quite the "well oiled machine" that
we need to be (we are our own worst critics). Crys has been tirelessly "pounding the pavement" lately, playing acoustically 2-3 times a week at various open mics in the area, making connections and creating a "buzz". You go Girl!!! Anyway, I think it's working, let's keep our fingers crossed.
Our next gig is Thursday, Feb 5 at Puck in Doylestown. Hope to see you there!!
Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays to all!!

Happy Winter Solstice (and other holidays) and a brief year in review...
Greetings All!
The winter solstice (12/21) marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year. The sun appears at its lowest point in the sky, and its noontime elevation appears to be the same for several days before and after the solstice.
Hence the origin of the word solstice, which comes from Latin solstitium, from sol, “sun” and -stitium, “a stoppage.” Following the winter solstice, the days begin to grow longer and the nights shorter. For more info on Winter Solstice, click HERE.
Why all the mystical hub-bub? Well, a solstice marks a season of change. It's the awakening of a new season and the closure of another. That's very much what it feels like for Talisman. We have had a terrific 2008. It marked our official reunion, the completion & release of The Wicked World's Come of Age, old songs, new songs, a great newspaper article in the Northeast Times and a great road map for 2009. Already some very neat things are on the horizon (more details to come on that ;-) and though 2008 was really great, 2009 will be divine (We really can't help ourselves).
We hope to see everyone for a festive outing tomorrow at Espresso Yourself at 6441 Frankford Ave Philadelphia, PA 19135 (215) 333-1212 starting at 8pm. Lead singer chick C will be playing selections from the CD and some other favorites. So bring your ears and your appetite - there are terrific sandwiches (the wraps are favorites along with the veggie grilled cheese) and goodies (cookies, cakes & ice cream) to fill you up; not to mention a great tea selection, wonderful coffees and deadly good hot chocolate. Give your holiday shopping a rest, kick back and relax and come out and Support Philly Local Music.

NEWS! Talisman has just been invited to play an Acoustic Music Showcase in Bucks County in early January. We'll pass on the details shortly.
All in all, it was a wonderful year and we would like to take the time to whole heartedly thank everyone for such terrific support and enthusiasm - particularly: Karen, Norma, Pamela, Rich, Miryam, Judi & Jim, KC and our families.
We hope your winter solstice was a happy one and sincerely wish you all a jubilant holiday season!
Peace on earth -
